Subject: What A Site! -- New on the Region 3 Homepage
Author: Larry Dean at 3MS~MAIN

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Region 3 Homepage has reached another
high mark with a record 418,785 hits in April and another 320,874 in May,
as our outreach continues to draw new and existing audiences back to us for
the latest in Fish and Wildlife news. Many existing homepages have been
further updated in the past few weeks and some new ones have come online.
Here's a small sample of what you will find the next time you visit:

Visit the New and Improved
Environmental Contaminants Program Homepage
http://www.fws.gov/r3pao/eco_serv/env_cont/

Learn more about the Region's contaminants program and what staff do to
prevent contamination realated damage, to identify damage, and to restore
habitat. The site provides information for contacting key personnel in the
Regional Office and the field who work with partners from states, tribes
and other federal agencies to protect and restore our natural resouces.

Take A Look At Sherburne NWR
http://www.fws.gov/r3pao/sherburn/

Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge has designed a new website, which
features an extensive list of plants found on the refuge, including many
photographs of those plants and plans to add more images as they become
available. You'll also find refuge history, useful maps, special event
details, hunting information, and wildlife and habitat materials.

Looking for True Fish Tales?
The Great Lakes Sturgeon Site Has Quite A Few
http://www.fws.gov/r3pao/sturgeon/

This site was developed as a multi-agency effort to feature the work that
the agencies do with lake sturgeon in the Great Lakes region. As the site
describes, over the past few years interest and efforts directed at the
recovery of this native Great Lakes fish species have been increasing
without the benefits of visibility afforded to high profile sport species.
Federal, state, tribal, provincial and academic natural resource
specialists have been communicating and collaborating for compilation of
status and trends information on the species in numerous Great Lakes
locations. In an effort to enhance the efficiency of this information
exchange, a Web Site specifically focused on Great Lakes lake sturgeon was
developed.

Region 3 Conservation Priorities Ready For Download
http://www.fws.gov/r3pao/pdf/priority.pdf

In an effort to make further useful documents and publications available
from the homepage, we have now added the Region 3 Conservation Priorities
in pdf format. Keep an eye on our main R3 Homepage for additional
publications that will be coming online soon.

Updated online reports are now available: Wolf Tracks and Inside Region 3
http://www.fws.gov/r3pao/InsideR3/
http://www.fws.gov/r3pao/wolf/tracks2.pdf

Missed the latest issues of Inside Region 3 or Wolf Tracks? Pay a visit to
the online download areas for both pdf files. The Region 3 homepage will
keep current and back issues of both available at the click of a mouse.

Finally, we hope you find your visit to all of the homepages within the
Region 3 website, informative and enjoyable. If you have suggestions for
ways we can improve existing pages, new items, etc., contact me via e-mail
or at 612-713-5312.
