Here is some information about an upcoming GIS training course for
shoreland management.

Shoreland Management Using ArcView
Friday, October 15, 1999 -- 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
Land Information and Computer Graphics Facility
University of Wisconsin-Madison
Course Fee: $250
Enrollment Limit: 16 persons

This class examines the use of ArcView desktop GIS software for shoreland
management.  The morning session includes an overview of shoreland
management issues, a discussion of the role of GIS in shoreland management
and a demonstration of a lakes classification process used in Vilas County,
Wisconsin.  The afternoon session includes a "hands-on" exercise designed
to build a shoreland management GIS application using local government
spatial data.

This class is designed for government staff, local elected officials, lake
associations, riparian property owners, and other interested citizens. The
class is suitable for beginning GIS users.
