     BUDGET NEWS FROM DC:
     
     We are pleased to announce House language in the Energy and Water 
     subcommittee appropriations bill for FY2000 which would have required 
     the closure of the Chicago Army Corps of Engineers office was struck 
     during Conference, due in large part to action by Mr. Dingell and 
     other Great Lakes Task Force members.
