Building Green Workshop a Primer on Sustainable Commercial Buildings
Attention government, business people, nonprofit members and architects!
Learn how your office environment can be improved by using natural
lighting
strategies, energy efficient equipment, clean indoor air, and purchasing
recycled products.
"Building Green: Creating Healthy, Profitable and Productive Commercial
Spaces" will be held at Weber's Inn in Ann Arbor, November 3, 1999 from
9 am
to 1 pm. The workshop is sponsored by the Michigan Recycling Coalition,
MI
Energy Division, MI AIA, Washtenaw County Dept. of Environment and
Infrastructure Services, Recycle Ann Arbor, John Barrie Associates, and
the
Ann Arbor Chamber of Commerce.
The workshop will be relevant to new construction, renovation, daily
operation and purchasing. Anyone considering, embarking on or in the
midst
of a space design should attend.
B.J. Harris, a building materials and systems expert, will describe case
study building projects that have effectively balanced low environmental
impact with high business effectiveness. John Barrie, a nationally
prominant
and locally based Green Architect, will focus on aspects of
environmentally
sound design that do not increase the cost of building projects.
Moderator
Ramsey Zimmerman, who has spent the last four years promoting green
building
issues to architects and builders, will provide up-to-date resources for
attendees to put these ideas into action in their own building projects.
Workshop cost is $45 for AIA and MRC members, $50 for nonmembers.
