GLIN==> New Bathymetric Map available for Lake Ontario

NEW BATHYMETRY MAP:  A poster of Lake Ontario bathymetry
is now publicly available with a whole-lake color image 
overlain by 2-meter interval contours at a scale of 
1:275,000 in a Transverse Mercator Projection.  This was 
a collaborative effort between the NOAA's National 
Geophysical Data Center (NGDC), NOAA's Great Lakes
Environmental Research Laboratories (GLERL), and several
organizations in Canada including the Canadian 
Hydrographic Service.  The poster contains two other 3-D 
map images at 1:75,000 and 1:65,000, which are in
the Rochester Basin and Charity Shoal areas respectively.  
Text on the geomorphology of the lake is also on this 
product and includes new named features, which have been 
approved by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names.  A
coverage map, which shows the data density and explains 
the preparation of the map, is also displayed.
