GLIN==> 3M and persistent chemical

For those on EM and GLIN interested in persistent,
biaccumulative toxicants and great lakes issues, today's Washington Post
contains and article about how 3M is ceasing production
of Scotch Guard products that contain
perflourooctane sulfate.

The company acted after finding the chemical in
human blood bank assays.

The company action is drawing praise from NRDC and others
as a result of the company acting before reports of occurrances of
health and environmental damage.

For those having Scotch Guard products...you may want to turn them
in at household hazardous waste days.....after reading these articles....
