The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant
Advisory Services are looking for two types of information on shore
protection appropriate to the Great Lakes. They want examples of new kinds
of "soft" shore protection that mimic natural shore protection. They also
want documented information on positive and negative impacts of hard shore
protection structures on adjacent properties and on the nearshore
environment. These two organizations are planning a new booklet that will
offer advice on shore protection to property owners on the Great Lakes. The
new booklet will replace the popular Help Yourself booklet that was written
more than 20 years ago. If you have information, contact: J. Philip Keillor
at: jkeillor@seagrant.wisc.edu
