Linda Stoll Joins Fox-Wolf Basin 2000
As New Executive Director
Fox-Wolf Basin 2000 is pleased to announce the hiring of Linda Stoll as its new
executive director.
"We are happy that Linda is on board," said Pete Van Airsdale, president of Fox-Wolf
Basin 2000. "Everyone on the board is enthusiastic about her filling the Executive
Director position and helping the organization move forward with its mission."
Stoll comes to the organization with an extensive background in facilitation,
mediation, and strategic planning and has served as a consultant in these areas,
with a special emphasis on their application to environmental issues.
"Fox-Wolf Basin 2000 is pursuing a number of ongoing projects that require bringing
a group of people together representing many backgrounds and many viewpoints
and reaching some consensus about where things should be going," she said. "This
is one of the strengths that I bring."
Stoll said she believes strongly in Fox-Wolf Basin 2000's watershed approach
to water-quality improvement and is committed to nurturing the organization's
existing relationships, fulfilling its goals in a variety of arenas, expanding
its financial resources, and strengthening its capacity and growth.
A Menasha, Wis., native, Stoll enjoys strong, longstanding ties to the Fox-Wolf
Basin.
"I live near Lake Winnebago, grew up in the city of Menasha, swam in the Fox
River," she said. "So the things that Fox-Wolf Basin 2000 cares about hit me
really close to home. When this opportunity came up to make a contribution, it
was something I really wanted to do."
Stoll's recent endeavors include serving as lead planner in developing a management
plan for the Plover River and in helping to create Portage County's landmark
open space plan, one of only two such county plans in Wisconsin.
She has also worked with Fox Cities Greenways to craft a rail-to-trail conversion
for a mile-long railroad trestle over the Fox River, helped organize Gov. Tommy
Thompson's participation in the Fox-Wisconsin Rivers Heritage Corridor Canoe
Trip as part of the state's 1998 sesquicentennial festivities, and chaired the
natural resource branch of the Wisconsin League of Women Voters.
Stoll has also been a state second vice president for the League and president
of its Neenah -Menasha chapter.
Stoll has two decades of experience as an environmental educator, including serving
as a teacher/naturalist at Appleton's Bubolz Nature Center and as a master outdoor
trainer for the Fox River Area Girl Scout Council.
Stoll holds a master's degree in resource management and land-use planning from
the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point as well as an undergraduate degree
in biology from Carroll College.
Stoll succeeds Bruce Johnson, who resigned April 21 to become executive director
of the Rivers Council of Minnesota. She can be reached in care of Fox-Wolf Basin
2000, Box 1861, Appleton, WI 54912-1861, via telephone at (920) 738-7025, and
via e-mail at foxwolf@athenet.net.
A welcoming reception for Stoll is planned for mid-August, and more details will
be announced shortly.
