Nominations Sought for Year 2000 Ohio Lake Erie Awards

Do you know an individual or organization whose dedication to preserving 
Lake Erie has been truly outstanding? This is an opportunity to give these 
Ohio citizens and organizations the special recognition they deserve for 
their outstanding contributions toward the preservation and protection of 
Lake Erie.

Nominate them for the 2000 Ohio Lake Erie Awards, presented by the Ohio 
Lake Erie Commission. One individual and one organization receive this 
distinct honor each year. The Ohio Lake Erie Awards were established in 
1995 to honor a citizen and an organization whose efforts have greatly 
enhanced our Great Lake.  Previous individual recipients are: Edith Chase, 
Jack Waldock, Dr. Kathleen Barber, the late George B. Garrett and Dr. Peter 
Fraleigh.  Previous organization recipients are: Franz Theodore Stone 
Laboratory, Black Swamp Bird Observatory, Lake Erie Circle Tour, Lake Erie 
Wing Watch and the City of Mentor.

Nominations for the 2000 individual and organization Ohio Lake Erie Awards 
will be accepted through Friday, August 11, 2000.  Winners will be 
announced at the 9th Annual Ohio Lake Erie Conference on September 7, 2000 
at the Radisson Harbour Inn, Sandusky, OH.  Nomination forms are available 
at the Ohio Lake Erie Commission's web site  www.epa.state.oh.us/oleo  or 
you may submit your nomination by letter to the Ohio Lake Erie Commission
