Job Announcement: Clean Water Network Director

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a national network of over
1000 nonprofit organizations to shape federal policies to protect and
restore our nation's rivers, lakes, coastal waters and wetlands. The
Clean Water Network (CWN) is a recognized leader in building
collaboration between a wide range of groups and shaping public policy
through a combination of grassroots and national advocacy. The CWN has
an active membership and a highly capable
staff, and is seeking a new Director to take over the day to day
management of the organization. For more information about the CWN,

Responsibilities include:

Work with our steering committee, issue-specific work groups and staff
to develop strategic plans, issue-specific campaigns and activities that
promote agreed upon policy outcomes.

Hire, manage, and supervise staff of 5 who work directly with our member
organizations.

Work with staff and co-chairs on program budget and fiscal management,
including grant reporting, proposal writing, preparation of annual
budgets, and ensuring that CWN raises it annual budget and its
activities conform with grant agreements.

Develop and maintain working relationships with funders.

Work with staff to put on several issue-specific small conferences a
year (25-60 people) and a large conference (200 people) every other
year.

Oversee staff production of monthly newsletters, action alerts, fact
sheets and reports.

Represent the CWN in regional or national collaborative campaigns
(requires some travel).

The following skills and experiences are preferred in candidates:
- minimum of five years experience working with environmental groups,
coalitions, networks or statewide organizations.
- coalition-building skills, ability to work collaboratively with others
and inspire action, and demonstrated leadership ability.
ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with a wide
variety of people.
- ability to handle many tasks at once and be well organized.
- experience with grassroots organizing, policy analysis, legislative
advocacy, and/or media outreach.
- familiarity with environmental, clean water and/or wetlands policies.
- experience with fundraising, budgets, and/or staff management.

Start date is as soon as possible. The salary for this position is based
on a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with experience. We offer
