The Lake Erie Millennium Plan in collaboration with the Detroit River
Consortium announces a binational conference,

LAKE ERIE IN THE MILLENNIUM - Progress and New Issues
March 28-29, 2001

Immediately following

THE STATE OF THE STRAIT - Status and Trends of the Detroit River Ecosystem
March 27, 2001

Both conferences will be held at the University of Windsor, Windsor,
Ontario, Canada.

The Lake Erie Millennium Plan was formed in 1998 to focus management needs
and coordinate research that will provide key information leading to answers
and understanding of the Lake Erie ecosystem.

These conferences will summarize recent changes occurring in the Detroit
River and Lake Erie, and review progress towards formulating research needs
and plans, emphasizing the link between the lake and its inputs and outputs.
Platform sessions on the most recent biological trends will form the focus
for open discussion of ways to integrate binational research with management
and public needs on issues affecting the Detroit River and Lake Erie.
