COMMUNICATIONS AND DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

 

The Wisconsin Association of Lakes, a non-profit corporation based in Madison, Wisconsin, seeks a highly motivated, multitalented individual to coordinate communications and help build and sustain a diverse funding base for the organization’s mission and programs. The position is expected to be full-time, permanent. Outstanding candidates interested in part-time work may be considered. Undergraduate degree with two years related work experience preferred. Annual salary ranging from $24,000 - $28,000 plus fringe benefits commensurate with hours worked, skills, education, and experience. 

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the duties of the position will include:

COMMUNICATIONS (75%)

Planning: In cooperation with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and staff, develop a communications, publicity and outreach plan for the Wisconsin Association of Lakes and to support statewide lake classification/protection efforts. 

Publications: Prepare and distribute newsletters, fact sheets, reports, and other educational materials; help update website, help plan and coordinate conferences and workshops.

Media Relations/Outreach: Identify key media contacts, develop press packets, help write and distribute action alerts, news releases, and other articles, and distribute reports and other materials related to lake classification, shoreland restoration, general lake issues, and WAL.

Interface with Public: route and respond to requests for information and assistance.

DEVELOPMENT (25%)

Planning: In cooperation with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, draft annual and long-term development plans and strategies to support the organization’s mission and strategic goals, such as a major donor campaigns, special appeals, fundraising events, etc.

Membership: Assist with membership development, including identifying and soliciting new members and affiliate Friends, Corporate Sponsors, and Countywide Lakes Associations, retaining members and affiliates, and designing donor correspondence and appeals.

Grants: Research funding sources, help prepare grant requests in cooperation with staff.

 

Qualifications

         Excellent verbal and written communications skills and ability to work as a team player. Customer service oriented person who is able to serve as interface for organization.
