GLIN==> Streamside Management Workshops

Announcing workshops on STREAMSIDE MANAGEMENT for managers and maintenance
personnel from public, private, parks and institutional lands.

Proper maintenance and management of streamside areas can help decrease
streambank erosion while improving stream water quality and appearance.
This half-day workshop will provide those that deal directly with managing
and maintaining streamside (riparian) areas with tips and techniques to aid
in their management decisions and help save them expensive restoration or
repair costs.

The same workshop will be held from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm on two different
dates - April 25 in Cleveland, Ohio and May 3 in Stow, Ohio.

Lecture topics include:

Stream Dynamics

Landscape Practices for Streamside Management

Invasive Non-Native Species Identification & Control

To Mow or Not to Mow - That is the Question

Stream Pollution Prevention Tips

Stabilizing Streambanks With Plants

Workshop Speakers include Ed Hines, Cleveland Parkworks; Jim Chatfield, Ohio
State University Extension Service; Mark Link, Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer
District.

A bus field trip and tour of stream sites with area professionals is
included (please dress appropriately for the weather!!)

Registration fee of $20.00 includes all workshop materials, handouts,
reference books, continental breakfast, bus field trip, and BBQ lunch.
Registration deadline is April 13, 2001.  Enrollment is limited for each
workshop, so please register early.
