Ohio Lake Erie Commission Posts Position Opening for Environmental
Specialist 2

TOLEDO, OH - The Ohio Lake Erie Commission is seeking candidates for an
Environmental Specialist 2 position to serve the Commission's office in
Toledo, Ohio.

The Environmental Specialist 2 (ES-2) will participate in implementing
environmental projects and initiatives of Ohio's recently released Lake Erie
Protection & Restoration Plan and the 2003 State of the Lake Report ~ Lake
Erie Quality Index, including:
 Blue Ribbon Panel on Lake Erie Watershed Balanced Growth
 Lake Erie Model Zoning Ordinance
 Lake Erie Lighthouse Designation Program; the Lake Erie Buffer Team
 Lake Erie Eco-tourism Initiative

The ES-2 will:
 Research and report findings of environmental science and environmental
policy areas, prepare technical reports, collect and present data
graphically;
 Participate in public presentations, facilitate small group discussions
 Represent executive director at meetings;
 Staff Lake Erie Protection Fund Grants Program.

Minimum position specific characteristics include:
 Knowledge of environmental science, water quality, biology;
 State of Ohio, Federal, local and regional environmental policies
including recent legislation involving brownfields, wetland restoration,
pollution prevention, urban sprawl, zoning ordinances;
 Skills in personal computers;
 Ability to evaluate technical research proposals.
