SITE OF THE MONTH for July: THE CENTER FOR GREAT LAKES CULTURE

The Center for Great Lakes Culture, housed at Michigan State University, 
is dedicated to understanding and interpreting the cultural history and 
expressions of the diverse peoples, traditions and customs of the Great 
Lakes region (Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, 
Illinois, Minnesota, Ontario, Wisconsin). Through research, instruction 
and outreach programs, the center seeks to coordinate and expand current 
resources and to increase the visibility, use and access to these 
resources at colleges and universities, libraries, archives, museums and 
cultural centers.

WATERS: Watershed Assessment, Tracking and Environmental Results

This site provides unified access to water quality information from 
state and U.S. EPA and U.S. Geological Survey databases, including the 
EPA's Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Database and its new National 
Water Quality Standards Database. WATERS users can search for 
information on the quality of a particular body of water by clicking on 
an interactive map.

The Great Lakes/St. Lawrence WATER QUALITY NETWORK

Wastewater treatment and filtration plants in more than 80 
municipalities along the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River are 
cooperating in this effort to pool data on the quality of drinking water 
and wastewater.

13th Annual L.A.T.E. RIDE

Join 10,000 bicyclists just after midnight on Saturday night/Sunday 
morning July 16 for a leisurely 25-mile ride through Chicago's downtown 
and north side. Cycle past skyscrapers, wave to onlookers and watch the 
sunrise over Lake Michigan.
