GLIN==> Hydromet Station Directory mapped online

Hydrological and Meteorological Station Data Accessible over the Internet

Management of Great Lakes water supplies and water quality requires meteorological and hydrological data. These data are used to evaluate current conditions and to provide a record of long-term trends for planning and forecasting. The Great Lakes Commission, NOAA's Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory and the US Army Corps of Engineers have teamed up to make hydrometeorological station data for the Great Lakes region accessible over the Internet.

The Great Lakes Hydrometeorological Station Directory is an online mapping application featuring some 20,000 listings of station characteristics for over 11,000 hydrological and meteorological stations throughout the Great Lakes region. It is intended as a resource for determining period of record, types of data collected and data availability. The mapping tool provides a geographic orientation and allows the database to be searched both by station characteristics and by location.
