---
The Office of Science and Technology in the Office of Water recognizes the
need for an integrated approach and extension of the Agency's current
programs in order to reduce the adverse impacts of microbiological
contamination in U. S. waters. In response to this need the Office has
developed the Draft Strategy for Waterborne Microbial Disease - a
multi-year strategy for reducing risk of impacts of microbial contamination
in water through improved water quality programs, risk communication, and
scientific advances. This September 18, 2001 meeting will provide an
opportunity for all interested parties to discuss and offer comments on
EPA's suggested approaches to reduce microbial contamination of our
Nation's waters.

The Draft Waterborne Microbial Disease Strategy is available on the
Internet at:

Please forward the attached meeting announcement and agenda to all
interested parties.
