Great Lakes United is seeking to hire a Clean Production Field Coordinator
to work out of our Buffalo, New York, office.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Clean Production Coordinator's job objective is to work with Great
Lakes United’s board, staff and member organizations, the Clean Production
Task Force, plus industries and governments to advance clean production
policies and programs. The field coordinator provides leadership on Great
Lakes water quality issues, reviews technical information, organizes public
campaigns, works with the media, and works with government officials to
carry out Great Lakes United policy positions. A priority in 2002 will be
continuing the work with our partner groups in the Clean Car Campaign on
eliminating mercury and other toxic materials from automobiles. A major
specific initiative involves coordinating a workgroup of government,
industry and NGO leaders developing a program for collecting and recycling
mercury switches.
Responsibilities:
· Working with the Executive Director and Montreal staff on local, regional
and global opportunities to eliminate or remediate toxic pollution
· Designing and implementing campaign strategies for the Clean Car Campaign
· Educating decision-makers on these issues
· Organizing workshops and media campaigns on toxic issues
· Writing action alerts, newsletter articles and reports
· Researching and writing grant proposals
· Working with Membership/Development Coordinator on membership and
fundraising activities
· Engaging existing and new coalition members in the issues and program work
· General organizational support as needed
Qualifications:
· Extensive organizing experience
· Strong background in clean production advocacy and campaigning
· Ability to work comfortably with a broad range of constituencies
· Demonstrated ability to fundraise
· Demonstrated writing skills
