---
The Lake Huron Workshop will be held on January 24, 2002, in Port Huron,
Michigan, at the Thomas Edison Inn. The workshop will be convened by the
Michigan Office of the Great Lakes and the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency Great Lakes National Program Office.

The Lake Huron Initiative has identified critical issues and actions for the
protection and restoration of Lake Huron. The purpose of the workshop is to
identify indicators, monitoring efforts and additional actions necessary to
continue progress toward our goal of "restoring and maintaining the
chemical, physical, and biological integrity of the waters, tributaries, and
nearshore terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems of Lake Huron" and to set
priorities for future actions.

The workshop will include presentations from the US EPA and Office of the
Great Lakes regarding Lake Huron. The workshop will focus on the development
of Lake Huron Indicators for critical pollutants, physical habitat, and
fisheries. Also, sessions will identify priority actions for the protection
and restoration of important ecological areas and Areas of Concern.

The guest luncheon speaker will be Dr. Gail Krantzberg, Director,
International Joint Commission, Great Lakes Regional Office. A registration
form and other information is available at the Lake Huron Initiative web
