Position Announcement:  Education Director
Clinton River Watershed Council, Rochester Hills, Michigan

The Clinton River Watershed Council (CRWC) seeks an outgoing, enthusiastic
individual with a strong background in aquatic ecology and environmental
education to fill the position of Education Director.  This position offers
a unique opportunity for the right candidate to utilize their skills and
experience to fulfill CRWC’s vision for citizen-driven stewardship of the
Clinton River watershed.

About the Organization: The Clinton River flows through sixty rural,
urbanizing, and urban communities in southeast Michigan before discharging
into Lake St. Clair. The Clinton River Watershed Council provides a forum
for citizens, businesses, community groups and local governments to
collaborate in improving and protecting the Clinton River and Lake St.
Clair.  Established in 1972 as a voluntary association of local governments,
the Clinton River Watershed Council reorganized in 1994 as an IRS 501(c)3
nonprofit organization.  Key program areas include watershed education,
outreach, and facilitation of cooperative watershed planning efforts.

Responsibilities: Manage a student-based water quality monitoring program
and Adopt-A-Stream volunteer monitoring program.  Foster collaborative
efforts in developing new education programs.  Develop and coordinate
community awareness, education, and action programs, including River Day,
public forums, workshops, and presentations in cooperation with other staff.
Promote watershed-based land use practices through permit reviews, site
visits, responding to phone and e-mail inquiries, and presentations.  Foster
cooperative efforts with and between other organizations and represent CRWC
on related committees, boards, and task forces.  Lead the planning and
decision-making process governing CRWC’s education programs.  Fulfill CRWC’s
mission through sound management of the organization’s internal operations
in cooperation with and approved upon by the Board of Directors.

Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred, in fisheries,
aquatic ecology, or environmental education, plus work experience.  Strong
background in aquatic ecology required.  Excellent analytical, verbal, and
written communication skills.  Good relationship skills, including tact,
sense of humor, and assertiveness.  Ability to work independently and as a
team player.  Demonstrated capacity to track and manage multiple tasks in a
timely fashion.  Working familiarity with word processing, desktop
publishing, spreadsheet and database programs (the office software standard
is Microsoft Office and Adobe products).

Starting Salary Range: $30,000 - $35,000, plus medical benefits,
commensurate with experience.
