Fall Songbird Migration Seminar

Black Swamp Bird Observatory is hosting a Fall Songbird Migration Ecology
and Warbler ID Seminar, Saturday, September 14, 2002 at Oak Harbor High
School in Oak Harbor, Ohio. Topics to include: Lake Erie songbird migration
patterns, night flight calls of migratory birds, confusing fall warbler ID
tips, and an evening flight call session. Doors open at 8:30 AM and goes
until 3:00 PM. Special guest speakers are Bill Evans from Cornell Lab of
Ornithology, Tom Bartlett and Vic Fazio professional field ornithologists,
Mark Shieldcastle from Black Swamp Bird Observatory and Julie Craves from
River Rouge Observatory. Evans will give an overview of his studies on
nocturnal migration flight calls. He will challenge the audience by playing
recordings of night flight calls which can be heard in Ohio, present night
flight call data form more than ten years of monitoring around North
America, and encourage everyone to tune into night migration by building
their own monitoring station. Fee which includes lunch: $25/BSBO member and
$35/nonmember before September 1st. After September 1st the fee is
$40/person. Mail-in registration accepted by September 7th., otherwise call
