GLIN==> Toronto Panel Event - A Canadian Plan on Climate Change

A Canadian Plan on Climate Change

You are invited to attend a public panel discussion about climate change on
Thursday, November 14th. The event will take place in the Grand Ballroom of
the Sheraton Centre Toronto, (123 Queen Street West) at 6:30 pm.

The panel presentations will be moderated by Professor Ann Zimmerman,
Director, Division of the Environment, University of Toronto. The
panellists include:

Dr. Dan Harvey - Professor, Department of Geography, University of Toronto
Dr. Gordon McBean - Professor and Research Chair, Policy Institute for
Catastrophic Loss Reduction, Department of Geography and Political Science,
University of Western Ontario
Dr. Martin Whittaker - Managing Director of Innovest Group and Professor,
Environmental Finance, University of Toronto
The Honourable David Anderson, Minister of the Environment

The panel will discuss climate change and its importance as an issue from a
variety of contexts, and will be followed by a question period where members
of the public will have the opportunity to express their views.

Mr. Anderson will assert that if Canadians expect the world to act in a way
that will lessen the effects of global emissions on Canada, then Canada
needs to be part of a global agreement. Canada is vulnerable to climate
change and the Government of Canada believes that ratifying the Kyoto
Protocol will be the first step towards a global agreement on this critical
issue.

This promises to be an interesting event on a topic of great importance to
Canadians. Please share this information with colleagues, and anyone else
you believe would be interested in attending.
