GLIN==> AOC Fish Tumor Conference Scheduled

Posted on behalf of Steve Curcio <xsc2@psu.edu>

---
Pennsylvania Sea Grant will host a conference on fish tumors and
deformities in Great Lakes Areas of Concern (AOC). The purpose of the
conference is to refine and coordinate the standardization of protocols
currently being used to evaluate this beneficial use
impairment.

When: January 21-22, 2003
Where: Gannon University - Waldron Center, Erie, Pennsylvania
Sponsored by: USEPA Region 3 and the Pennsylvania Department of
Environmental Protection

Conference participants will examine the existing standards currently
being used in AOCs for this beneficial use impairment and will learn more
about the causative agents of fish tumors and their relationship to
environmental contamination.

Remedial Action Plan (RAP) coordinators will learn what information is
needed to assess fish tumor and deformity impairments; how to design an
appropriate study for their particular AOC; and what other RAP groups are
doing to address this problem.

This conference will be conducted in a workshop format to encourage
widespread participation from attendees.
