PRESS CONFERENCE:  LIHEAP

The Northeast-Midwest Coalitions on Wednesday, January 8, will hold a press conference to highlight the need for additional Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funding.  Currently scheduled to speak are Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) and Reps. Marty Meehan (D-MA), Robert Simmons (R-CT), James McGovern (D-MA), and Jack Quinn (R-NY).

 

The January 8 press conference will begin at 10:30 am at the "temporary swamp," located at Delaware Ave. and Constitution Ave., outside of the Russell Senate Office Building.

NORTHEAST-MIDWEST ECONOMIC REVIEW

The latest edition of the biannual Northeast-Midwest Economic Review is available online at http://www.nemw.org/ERFall02.pdf.  The edition includes articles on revealing the economic value of environmental protection, trends in agriculture, output-based pollution standards, recycling America's gas stations, smart growth on the frontier, investing in distributed energy technologies, manufacturing workforce preparedness, and regional impacts of redistricting and elections.

 

 

MEETING:  GREAT LAKES TASK FORCES

The Great Lakes Task Forces on Wednesday, January 22, will hold their 2003 organizational meeting for congressional staff only. The meeting's purpose is to discuss current Great Lakes issues and legislative priorities for the 108th Congress.

 

The January 22 meeting will begin at 10:00 am at a room to be announced.
