Great Lakes Science Vessels

Research ships support a wide range of monitoring activities related to the physical, chemical and biological integrity of the Great Lakes. Since 1997, annual Great Lakes science vessel coordination workshops have been held to facilitate the exchange of ideas and improve the coordination of science vessel operations. This web site, which includes a searchable database of Great Lakes science vessels, is a product of those efforts. The 7th annual workshop is set for March 13-14, 2003, in Windsor, Ontario.

Wisconsin Year of Water. With its 15,000 lakes, 32,000 miles of rivers and 1.2 quadrillion gallons of groundwater, Wisconsin values water as one of the state's most precious natural resources. Events throughout the year will range from serious discussions about issues such as the dangers of water privatization and the detection of E. coli bacteria in drinking water to activities that add fun to the mix, such as group paddling trips, volunteer cleanups and wetland restoration projects. www.wisconsinyearofwater.org
