The Great Lakes Coastal Wetlands Consortium has completed its first year of pilot studies leading toward a long-term Great Lakes coastal wetlands monitoring program. The purpose of the first year's field work was to test the usefulness and applicability of various methods and metrics across the Great Lakes basin in a collaborative fashion. Six projects took place in over 30 wetland sites distributed across the basin. Information was collected and analyzed on the Consortium's indicators which include biological, physical, chemical, and landscape measures. Results of the pilot studies are now available online at http://www.glc.org/wetlands/year1overview.html.
Presentations on pilot study results were given at a recent Consortium project management team meeting in Port Rowan, Ontario. You may view the presentations and other PMT materials at http://www.glc.org/wetlands/pmtminutes.html.
