The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Lake Michigan Forum and the Annis Water Resources Institute of Grand Valley State University invite you to participate in the basin-wide Lake Michigan: State of the Lake 2003 Conference. The conference is being planned for October 21 (Tuesday) through October 22, 2003 (Wednesday) in Muskegon, Michigan and is funded by the U.S. EPA Great Lakes National Program Office. The theme of the conference will be “Connecting Watersheds to Lake Michigan.” There will be a plenary session and breakout sessions on topics such as Lake Michigan research, invasive species, and watershed case studies. The audience will include researchers, government agencies and the general public.
Abstracts relating to Lake Michigan research (chemical, biological, microbiological, physical), Lake Michigan watersheds and Areas of Concern, case studies, and policy considerations are encouraged. Authors may submit a draft abstract even if final research results are not yet available. However, abstracts will need to be finalized by early September. Oral presentations (20 minutes each) will be scheduled for Tuesday, October 21st and Wednesday, October 22nd. Posters are welcome and they will be presented at a reception on the evening of October 22nd.
Please limit your preliminary abstract to less than 600 words. The abstract should be understandable to the general public while maintaining the rigor of the topic. The attached abstract submittal form should be e-mailed to Janet Vail at email@example.com by July 21, 2003.
