Discover Wisconsin Highlights Wisconsin's Coastal Experience
A new episode of Discover Wisconsin will feature historical features found
along Wisconsin's 820 miles of Great Lakes coastline. The episode,
"Wisconsin's Historic Coasts," will air on Saturday and Sunday, August 23
and 24. (Note: Check the TV listings below for viewing times.)
The episode was developed in cooperation with the Wisconsin Coastal
Management Program of the Wisconsin Department of Administration.
"Wisconsin's Great Lakes provide many opportunities to learn about our
history and enjoy scenic beauty," said DOA Secretary Marc Marotta. "The
"Wisconsin's Historic Coasts" episode creates awareness of Lake Michigan and
Lake Superior, and encourages tourists to spend their time and money in
Wisconsin coastal communities."
The program will highlight the Frank Lloyd Wright designed S.C. Johnson
buildings and The Prairie School in Racine, the Riverwalk in the Historic
Third Ward in Milwaukee, a World War II U.S. submarine and the Wisconsin
Maritime Museum in Manitowoc, a historic fishing village in Two Rivers, the
Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay, shipwreck diving in Lake
Michigan and Lake Superior, a pleasure cruise through the Apostle Islands,
the Raspberry Island Lighthouse and a tour of the S.S. Meteor Maritime
Museum in Superior.
The Wisconsin Coastal Management Program is dedicated to preserving and
making accessible the natural and historic resources of Wisconsin's Great
Lakes Coasts. The program works cooperatively with state, local and tribal
government agencies and non-profits in managing the ecological, economic and
aesthetic assets of the Great Lakes and their coastal areas.
Discover Wisconsin is a weekly half-hour television program highlighting
Wisconsin travel destinations. The program reaches a weekly audience of
700,000 on 29 stations in Wisconsin and the Midwest.
