GLIN==> Sustainable Beaches Summit

Sustainable Beaches Summit
March 29-31, 2004
Sandestin, Florida

The Sustainable Beaches Summit (The Summit) is a groundbreaking effort to
bring together a diverse cross-section of beach professionals and coastal
educators from federal agencies, state and local governments,
non-governmental organizations, academia, and industry.

The Summit will facilitate and enhance the body of knowledge encompassing
beach and natural resource management, coastal tourism and development,
recreation, and conservation. In addition, the Summit will provide an
excellent venue for network building among beach professionals.

The first day of the Summit, Monday, March 29, features several workshops
relating to various aspects of beach management. The workshops will allow
participants to gain hands-on training in the latest beach management
techniques and include field trips to the beautiful beaches of Walton
County. The meeting convenes on Tuesday, March 30 with a morning plenary
session, and will conclude on Wednesday, March 31. Tuesday and Wednesday
will include sessions focusing on five major tracks relating to beach
management: water, sediment, monitoring & mapping, tourism, and
education/outreach.

The Clean Beaches Council (CBC) is a national nonprofit organization solely
devoted to educating the public about the environmental health of America's
beaches. CBC's mission is to preserve America's coastal heritage through
public/community awareness and voluntary participation in programs that will
ensure a legacy of clean beaches and healthy coastal environments for
generations to come.
