OPEN HOUSES ON THE BALANCED GROWTH INITIATIVE SCHEDULED
FOR BAY VILLAGE, TOLEDO AND ASHTABULA

The public is invited to submit its opinions at a series of informational 
open houses in coming days on the Balanced Growth Initiative being 
developed for Lake Erie and its watershed.

A Blue Ribbon Task Force was formed in 2001 to study linkages between land 
use and water quality in the Lake Erie Watershed and the impacts that 
growth ultimately will have on the lake. The panel was asked to recommend 
ways to the Ohio Lake Erie Commission (LEC) on how state and local 
communities could better promote sustainable development. Those draft plans 
are now ready and available online at the LEC web site 
www.epa.state.oh.us/oleo.	

What: 	The presentation of "Linking Land Use and Lake Erie: A Planning 
Framework for Achieving Balanced Growth in the Ohio Watershed" and "Best 
Local Land Use Practices."

When: 	7 to 9 p.m. on the following days:

Where: 	January 28 - Lake Erie Nature & Science Center, Huntington 
Reservation, 28728 Wolf Road, Bay Village

	February 3 - Ohio Lake Erie Commission Office, 1 Maritime Plaza, Toledo

	February 5 - Blue and Gold Room of Kent State University Branch Campus, 
3325 West 13th St., Ashtabula

Who: 	Members of the Balanced Growth Blue Ribbon Task Force will be 
available to answer questions.
