Winter Open House, Reception and Silent Auction
for
Stone Laboratory and the
Ohio Sea Grant College Program
Free and Open to the Public
Thursday, 19 February 2004
7:00 9:00 p.m.
Fawcett Center, Ohio State University Columbus Campus
2400 Olentangy River Road (free parking available)
Have fun and put our island back in your life in the middle of the
winter. Learn about course offerings, workshops, and special
programs planned for 2004 and how you can get involved. Pick up
course and workshop application materials for spring, summer, and fall
2004. Meet Stone Laboratory faculty and Ohio Sea Grant research
scientists and staff. Get your Lake Erie questions answered.
Bring your old photos and Stone Laboratory stories and memorabilia to
share and reminisce. Renew old friendships with former students,
faculty and research scientists. See a slide show of what
Put-in-Bay and Stone Laboratory look like in the middle of
winter.
A silent auction will be held between 7:00 and 8:30 to benefit the
Friends of Stone Laboratory, a non-profit group that supports Stone Lab
programs and scholarships. Auction items include a Get Away Package at
Put-in-Bay, gift certificates for area restaurants, gift baskets from
various merchants and many other Lake Erie related items. (Payment by
cash or check please; credit cards cannot be accepted.)
Stone Laboratory, located on Gibraltar Island, Put-in-Bay, Ohio, is the
oldest freshwater biological field station in the country (1895) and The
Ohio State Universitys Island Campus. The Ohio Sea Grant College
Program is part of the National Sea Grant College Program, NOAA.
The program uses a combination of research, education, and outreach to
address Lake Erie issues related to the environment, education, and the
economy in collaboration with government, academia, and the private
sector.
Plan now to attend this, our sixth annual event, sponsored by the Friends
of Stone Laboratory and the Ohio Sea Grant College Program.
Door prizes and refreshments will be provided!!!
