Urban and rural runoff pollution is the leading cause of water quality
problems in Wisconsin. Due to high erosion rates and the efficiency of
ditches and storm sewers, construction sites have the highest rates of
sediment delivery to water bodies of any land use in Wisconsin. From an
average construction site, 30 tons of sediment per acre can wash off into
nearby waterways.
Construction site erosion control ordinances and practices are designed to
help decrease the amount of sediment entering lakes, streams and wetlands.
However, even though ordinances and permit requirements have been in place
for years, and many practices now seem commonplace, contractors, consultants
and municipal staff still have questions about specific responsibilities and
management practices.
To help answer these questions, we invite you to a Construction Site Erosion
Control Workshop. This one-day technical workshop is designed to address:
-- Impacts of Erosion and Sediment
-- Understanding Flow and Erosion
-- Small-Site Practice Installation and Maintenance \
-- Small-Site Erosion Control Planning
Who should attend?
Builders and contractors working on one- and two-family home construction;
building inspectors; landscape contractors; and others writing erosion
control plans, doing site inspections or installing practices.
