CONSERVATION SECURITY PROGRAM
------------------------------------------------

Senators Tom Harkin (D-IA) and Gordon Smith (R-OR) are seeking signatures on a letter to Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman about the Conservation Security Program (CSP).  The letter asks USDA to revise its proposed rule that – compared to the CSP provisions within the 2002 farm bill – seriously limits eligibility and drastically reduces payments.  The signature deadline is noon on Friday, March 12.

Contacts: Alison Fox with Senator Harkin (202/224-2035) and Matt Hill with Senator Smith (202/224-3753).
