Lake Sturgeon work and issues http://www.glsc.usgs.gov/research/ fisheriesresearch.asp?ID=8
Overfishing and habitat destruction in
the early 1900s devastated lake sturgeon (Acipenser
fulvescens) populations in the Great Lakes. Historically, the
Detroit River supported one of the largest lake sturgeon
populations. Studies are currently underway on the dynamics of
remaining sturgeon spawning habitat in areas of channel between
lakes Erie and Huron. This site includes a Fact Sheet and numerous
posters to dowload. |
