Student Poster Contest
"Help Protect Your Waters and Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers!" Grades 6th-8th The Office of the Great Lakes is providing Michigan students a way to use
critical thinking and to demonstrate their knowledge of Great Lakes aquatic
invasive species. As you teach your students about these invaders, have
your students design a poster to convey a message to their friends, family, and
neighbors about how to keep aquatic invasive species from spreading to new lakes
and rivers.
* Poster size must be 11 x 17 inches, in full color or black and
white, and
using pencil, colored pencil, watercolor, pen and ink, and/or acrylic paint. If you have questions, please contact Emily Finnell at 517-241-7927 or by

All submissions must be postmarked no later than Monday, May 3, 2004. Mail entries to: Emily Finnell

Governor Jennifer M. Granholm as the official poster for Aquatic Invasive
Species Awareness Week, June 7-13, 2004, to be reproduced and distributed
statewide and will have an opportunity to participate in an episode of Michigan
United Conservation Clubs' Michigan Out-of-DoorsTM Television. Winning and
honorable mention entries will be posted on the Department of Environmental
Quality website. No entries will be returned.
All entries become the property of the Office of the Great Lakes
and may be published or used at its discretion. Funding has been provided by Mr. Peter M. Wege.
