ENERGY EFFICIENCY FUNDING

Senators Jack Reed (D-RI), Arlen Specter (R-PA), Olympia Snowe (R-ME), and Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) are circulated a letter seeking funds for several critical energy programs within the Interior Appropriations bill that increase the nation’s energy efficiency and improve energy policy decision-making.  Targeted initiatives include the Weatherization Assistance Program, State Energy Program, Industrial Technologies Program, and Energy Information Administration.

ENERGY MODELING

Click here to read a new article – from Issues in Science and Technology, the quarterly journal of the National Academies of Science – that argues most energy-economic models do not provide policymakers with the information they need to make sound decisions.  It also encourages policymakers to demand that models be less opaque, that their biases and assumptions be made clear.
