Decision Support for the Great Lakes – St. Lawrence System
for the New Millennium The 2004 Great Lakes Regional Data Exchange
Conference will take place October 26-28, 2004, at the Detroit
Marriott Renaissance Center. Tuesday, October 26, will consist of
eight training sessions followed by a welcoming reception.
Wednesday, October 27, will feature plenary, breakout and
brainstorming sessions as well as a luncheon with a keynote speaker,
and the Night on Greektown event. The final day, Thursday, October
28, will include the final breakout and plenary sessions, followed

Conference Objectives A substantial need exists
to coordinate the diverse data holdings, integrate information
systems, and develop interoperable computer models and decision
support tools that deal with Great Lakes - St. Lawrence River
resource management priorities. The conference/ workshops are
designed to facilitate information exchange between participants, to
identify opportunities for collaboration and to seek a consensus on
a common vision for integrated decision support tools to meet the
needs of regional policy and decision making.
Target
Audience The conference is designed to appeal to a broad spectrum of
participants who are interested in regional data and information
sharing, and Internet-based and Geographic Information System (GIS)
technologies.
- Federal and state/provincial governments, academic and
non-profit organizations that engage in data collection,
development, storage and management that wish to explore new ways
for regional information coordination
- State/provincial/municipal information managers who oversee
web and GIS technologies and are looking for new ideas and
techniques
- Great Lakes stakeholders who are interested in web and GIS
tools to improve decisionmaking

October 13, 2004. Your registration fee covers all meeting
materials, one reception, one lunch and all breaks. The early
registration fee is $150 U.S., or $200 U.S. starting September

Conference and share your knowledge with your many colleagues
throughout the region. You must submit online or by email
a brief description of your presentation proposal by August 16,

Exhibitors As an exhibitor, you have
a unique opportunity to market your products and services to a
captive audience that is looking at Internet-based and GIS
technologies to enhance data sharing. Spaces include booth
materials, electrical and Internet connections and at least two
