The Great Lakes Observing System (GLOS) is one of 11 Regional
Associations that are being developed nationwide to collect physical and
environmental data to improve the prediction of changes in coastal waters.
WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!
Survey at http://www.glc.org/glos/survey/survey.html
Collecting public input on the prospective uses for GLOS is crucial to
this process. What do YOU want to know about the Great Lakes
environment, weather, climate and other current conditions? Secondly, in
what format would you like this information made available to you?
Before taking this short survey, you're encouraged to review the 4-page
GLOS overview at www.glc.org/glos/pdf/glosinsert-web.pdf and the project
web site: www.glc.org/glos. These will help you to better understand the
project history and development to date.
The GLOS initiative is being coordinated by the Great Lakes Commission,
through a series of grants from the NOAA Coastal Services Center.
Partners include the International Joint Commission's Council of Great
Lakes Research Managers, Great Lakes Sea Grant Network, and a range of
federal, state and provincial agencies, academic institutions, and
nongovernmental organizations.
It is anticipated that a GLOS Regional Association will be chartered in
2005 along with adoption of partnership agreements between agencies,
organizations and institutions. The Regional Association will be the
forum to bring all interested parties together to collectively
prioritize needs, and influence the design and development of GLOS.
All survey responses received by Aug. 24 will be shared with and
considered by the GLOS Steering Committee at its next meeting.
Please take a few minutes to share your ideas with us:
