For Immediate Release:
Third Annual Great Lakes Bioneers Conference
October 15-17
Since 1990, the annual Bioneers conference has been the preeminent gathering
of leading social and scientific visionaries with practical solutions for
restoring the Earth. These biological pioneers peer deeply into the heart of
nature to devise strategies for restoration, which is destined to be the
central enterprise of the years ahead.
For the third year in a row, the Bioneers have supported satellite
conferences throughout the country and Traverse City is proud to be one of
those places. Traverse City will be beaming with environmental and social
justice educators, scientists and academics from all over the Great Lakes
Basin to share information and resources.
The Great Lakes Bioneers Conference 2004 is being organized by the
Neahtawanta Center, SEEDS and local educators, and is hosted on the campus
of Northwestern Michigan College on October 15-17. A live satellite downlink
of plenary sessions from the Bioneers Conference in San Rafael, CA will be
part of this unique regional event. Workshops will focus on the people and
issues integral to our own Great Lakes region, including water diversion,
green entrepreneurship, farm to school programs, green design and
alternative energy, ecoforestry, local currency, and the latest ideas in
environmental education.
