NEWS RELEASE

October 22, 2004

Ohio Lake Erie Commission Seeks Small Grant Proposals
Deadline: November 3, 2004

This is a reminder that the Ohio Lake Erie Commission is seeking small
grant proposals by deadline November 3, 2004. Grant proposals should
address the funding priorities of the Lake Erie Protection & Restoration
Plan.
The maximum award for a one year grant is $10,000, unless the specific
nature of the project warrants a longer time period.

Small Grants are intended to be used as seed money to test the feasibility
of larger research efforts, for small demonstration implementation
projects, technology transfer, and public participation projects. Projects
will be selected at the December 21, 2004 quarterly meeting of the Ohio
Lake Erie Commission. Grant guidelines and application forms are available
at the Commission web site under Lake Erie Protection Fund at
http://www.epa.state.oh.us/oleo or by calling 419-245-2514.

Ohio's Lake Erie Protection Fund was established in 1990 to award grants
that will help the State of Ohio protect and enhance its greatest natural
resource ~ Lake Erie and its watershed. The Fund is administered by the
Ohio Lake Erie Commission and is supported by Ohioans each time they
purchase a Lake Erie License Plate, displaying either the Marblehead
Lighthouse or the Toledo Harbor Light, as designed by Ohio Artist Ben
Richmond.
