"MSU Offers Watershed Management Courses Online"

Michigan State University is offering online watershed management courses to
cater to those with busy personal and professional lives.
Those who want to continue their education and enhance their skills in
watershed management will find these courses well suited to their interest.
The on-line classes also offer participants a chance to interact with others
weekly through selected discussion topics. Individuals who complete all four
courses (3 credits each) will receive a Professional Certificate in
Watershed Management. Students can also take one or more courses in the
program without pursuing certification to obtain more knowledge in a
particular area of interest.
Anyone with interests or responsibilities in various aspects of watershed
management, including agency personnel, environmental organizations members,
drain commissioners, health officials, developers and educators will find
these courses beneficial.
Course topics include:
· Watershed planning
· Pollution prevention
· Economic sustainability
· Overall environmental improvement
· Partnerships with stakeholders affected by resource management decisions
· Management techniques based on strong science and data
· Watershed Assessment and Tools, including data utilization, interactive
Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and modeling programs.
These courses are delivered entirely over the Internet (i.e., can be taken
from your home or office) and offered three times a year during fall, spring
and summer semesters. Michigan State University is a national leader in
