Briefing: Combined Heat and Power
– Realizing the Promise
Combined heat and power technologies use energy lost in
the generation of electricity for heat applications, improving efficiency
dramatically. Greater utilization of these technologies can
significantly lower costs, ease demand, relieve grid constraints, and
enhance security. This briefing will quantify cogeneration’s
potential, review what’s at stake, and outline barriers that need to
be addressed. Presentations will be given by Bruce Hedman, Energy and
Environmental Analysis; Tim Daniels, New York City Economic Development
Corporation; and Catherine Van Way,
Cummins.
The February 23 briefing – sponsored by the
Northeast-Midwest Congressional Coalition and the Environmental and Energy
Study Institute – will run from 10:00
am until 11:00 am in 1116
Longworth House Office Building.
Contact: Diane DeVaul at the
Northeast-Midwest Institute (202/464-4009).
