Joint Conference
Lake Michigan: State of the Lake - 4th Biennial Conference
and
Great Lakes Beach Association - 5th Annual Meeting
November 2-3, 2005
KI Convention Center and Regency Suites
Green Bay, WI
Please join us in Green Bay for the 4th Biennial Lake 4THLake Michigan:
State of the Lake Conference and the 5th Annual Great Lakes Beach
Association Meeting. This is the second time the two groups have met
jointly and promises to be another very successful meeting. The theme for
this year's conference is Restoring Lake Michigan and Green Bay - Assessing
What is Possible from Here. The conference brings together scientists,
resource managers, planners, policy makers, officials, students, and
citizens working to improve and protect Lake Michigan/Green Bay ecosystems
and all Great Lakes beaches.
This is the first call for papers; our apologies for cross-postings. All
interested persons are invited to submit abstracts for consideration. Both
oral and poster presentations will require an abstract. Conference session
topics and abstract submittal instructions may be found in the attached
document and on the conference web site, http://www.aqua.wisc.edu/solm/
All abstracts must be received by July 22, 2005. Authors will be notified
of acceptance/rejection by August 15, 2005. Authors of contributed papers
and posters will be expected to cover all of their travel costs, as well as
the conference registration fees.
The conference registration fee of $75 for two days ($50 for students)
includes most meals, breaks and an evening poster reception. Sponsorships
are being sought to further reduce student registration fees. The
conference will be held at the new KI Convention Center adjacent to the Fox
River in downtown Green Bay. The Center is connected to the Regency Suites
(Green Bay's only all-suite hotel) and across the street from the Holiday
Inn City Centre Hotel. Both hotels are offering exceptional room rates of
$62/night for government or university employees. (The conference rate at
the Regency Suites will be $92 for non-government attendees).
