Travel Michigan's web site is
the one-stop shop for Michigan travel information, featuring more
than 8,000 attractions, events, hotels, resorts, restaurants and
other tourism-related businesses. Housed within the Michigan
Economic Development Corporation, Travel Michigan is the State of
Michigan's official agency for the promotion of tourism. Travel
Michigan collaborates with the state's Destination Marketing
Organizations (Convention & Visitors' Bureaus, other regional
marketing entities, and tourism-related state associations) to
market Michigan and provide comprehensive visitor information
services. The unit's mission is to increase leisure visitor spending
at Michigan businesses, with an overall goal of creating and
retaining jobs in the state.

Annual September Adopt-a-Beach

Take part in this one-day event that works to rid
shorelines and waterways of trash. The shoreline cleanup takes place
Saturday, Sept. 17, 9 a.m. to noon, on beaches and tributaries along
Great Lakes coastal areas in Michigan and Illinois.

Great Lakes Regional Collaboration draft

The public is invited to submit comments on the
draft GLRC report until Sept. 9, 2005. The GLRC is a wide-ranging,
cooperative effort to design and implement a strategy for the
restoration, protection and sustainable use of the Great Lakes.
