U.S. Senator Carl Levin and Sanctuary volunteer Betty Krueger will be honored with the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation 2005 Stewardship Award, September 17th, during a tribute gala to celebrate the 5th anniversary of Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary. World renowned ocean explorer and NMSF Trustee Dr. Robert Ballard will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the event, and Congressman Bart Stupak will present the City of Alpena with the Preserve America Certificate as part of the White House initiative that encourages and supports community efforts to preserve and enjoy our priceless cultural and natural heritage. State Representative Matthew Gillard is expected to participate in the events as well.
