Faculty Position in Hydrogeology at Cleveland State University
The Department of Biological, Geological, and Environmental Sciences at
Cleveland State University invites applications for a tenure-track position
at the ASSISTANT PROFESSOR level with expertise in HYDROGEOLOGY OR RELATED
FIELD. We particularly encourage applicants with a research emphasis in one
or more of the following areas: watershed-scale processes, environmental
applications of hydrogeology, linkages between geochemical and ecological
processes, applied GIS, water resource management and/or restoration. This
position will complement existing research within our department on land
and water resources and urban environmental issues involving collaborative
partnerships with a number of regional universities, museums, county, state
and national parks, local and state agencies. Qualified applicants must
have a Ph.D., 2 years of post-doctoral or equivalent professional
experience, and demonstrate the potential for excellence in research and
teaching in geology and environmental science. Candidates with teaching
experience, a record of publication in appropriate peer-reviewed journals,
potential for obtaining external funding and potential for contributing to
the doctoral program are preferred. The successful candidate will be
expected (1) to establish an independent, externally funded research
program, (2) to supervise undergraduate and graduate research and (3) to
have a commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching. Competitive
salary and startup funds. Starting date: August 21, 2006.
