Asian Carp
– Briefing
The Great Lakes Task Force on
Wednesday, August 2, will host a congressional-staff briefing on the Asian
carp and what is being done to stop them. The Fish & Wildlife
Service will provide background on the Asian carp, and the Corps of
Engineers will discuss the dispersal barrier in the Chicago
Sanitary & Ship Canal. Making a special guest appearance
– captured (and dead) Asian carp from the Mississippi
River. The August 2 briefing will begin at 1:30 pm in 2322
Rayburn House Office Building.

House Coalition LD – Job Opening
The Northeast-Midwest Congressional Coalition is seeking
a legislative director. The successful candidate will organize the
bipartisan Coalition to advance economic development and environmental
issues important to the region. The legislative director will operate
out of a co-chair’s congressional office but will coordinate closely
with all Coalition members. Congressional experience is

Opening
The Northeast-Midwest Institute is seeking a research
assistant to help develop financing vehicles for ecosystem restoration in
the Great Lakes. Tasks will include
researching case studies, preparing reports, and organizing
