DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION PRESS RELEASE Wednesday, August 16, 2006 Contact: Scott Larrivee, Office of the Secretary, 608-266-7362 Coastal Management Grants Now Available The Department of Administration's Wisconsin Coastal Management Program (WCMP) today announced that it is now accepting grant proposals for projects designed to enhance, preserve, protect and restore coastal resources anywhere along the state's 820 miles of shoreline with Lakes Michigan and Superior. The program awards approximately $1.5 million each year to local governments and organizations for projects related to Coastal Land Acquisition, Coastal Wetland Protection and Habitat Restoration, Nonpoint Source Pollution Control, Coastal Resources and Community Planning, Great Lakes Education, and Public Access and Historic Preservation. Eligible applicants include local and tribal governments, nonprofits, academic institutions, and state agencies. To assist applicants, WCMP staff will be traveling around the state to conduct grant workshops at the following locations: * Madison: August 30, 1:00 p.m., Department of Administration Building, 101 East Wilson Street, Room 4B * Milwaukee: September 6, 1:00 p.m., Port of Milwaukee, 2323 S.
