Win Trip Aboard Great Lakes Freighter to Benefit Lake Protection Efforts
Win a once-in-a-lifetime Great Lakes voyage for four aboard the Interlake Steamship Company's 1,000-foot flagship between June and September 2007.
The reigning "Queen of the Great Lakes," the Paul Tregurtha is the longest vessel on the Great Lakes. Trips aboard the working freighter are usually available only to crew members' friends and family, and her luxury passenger quarters are typically reserved for corporate guests.
The shipping company has donated the four- to six-day trip to support the efforts of the Alliance for the Great Lakes. Raffle tickets may be purchased from now until Oct. 26 for $10 each. (See ticket information below.)
The ship was the last of 13 thousand footers to enter service on the Great Lakes and was also the last Great Lakes vessel built at American Ship Building in Lorain, Ohio. Originally named the William J. De Lancey, the ship cost about $60 million to build and became the flagship of the Interlake fleet.
Elaborate passenger accommodations were built for use by Interlakes most important business customers. For her crew, the William J. De Lanceys construction included air conditioning throughout, elevators, and luxurious décor in the dining, mess rooms and crews quarters -- winning the ship the nickname "Fancy De Lancy."
All passengers must be 21 or older and in good health. The round-trip voyage will begin and end at a port along Lake Superior, Lake Erie, the Detroit River or the St. Clair River. The exact departure port will be determined at a later date. All food and beverages included.
One ticket - $10.00 Three tickets - $25.00 13 tickets - $100.00
