2006 Great Lakes Commission Annual Meeting Oct. 3-5

the Great Lakes Commission, Oct. 3-5 in Duluth, Minn. Register

With the theme of Future Strategies For Wise Use,
Protection and Restoration of Our Shared Great Lakes, the meeting
will address some of the major issues in Great Lakes resource
management and policy. Special features of this important event
include:
- Keynote presentations by the Hon. James Oberstar (Member of
Congress, MN) and the Hon. Joe Comuzzi (MP, Thunder Bay-Superior
North).
- Special sessions:
- Toward a Cleaner, Smarter Shipping Industry
- Aquatic Nuisance Species: Science, Strategies and Progress
Toward Solutions
- Next Steps as the Region Implements the Great Lakes
Regional Collaborative Plan for Restoration.
- Charting the course for the future of the Great Lakes
Commission: participants are invited to take part in a half-day
strategic planning session.
The meeting will be immediately preceded by a trio
of instructional tours of maritime and clean-up projects in the
Duluth area, conducted in cooperation with the Great Lakes
Dredging Team on Tuesday, Oct. 3. An opening reception will be
held later that day at the Great Lakes Aquarium, followed by the
business meeting and special sessions on Oct. 4-5. There will be a
dinner cruise on Lake Superior on Oct. 4, and the meeting will
conclude at noon, Oct. 5.
The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn &
Suites on Duluth Harbor. A registration fee of $125 U.S. ($140
Can.) covers meeting materials, two continental breakfasts, a
luncheon on Oct. 4 and the opening reception. The dinner cruise is
available for an additional $40 U.S. ($45 Can.); seating is
limited to the first 70 registrants. Please register online at
